Disabled Black 2SLGBTQI+{ Populations in Canada
Black 2SLGBTQI+ people living with disabilities face unique and compounding forms of
systemic discrimination across Canada. Despite being among the most marginalized
within both Black and 2SLGBTQI+ communities, their experiences remain vastly under-
documented in research, public policy, and service provision. This report aims to
address that gap.
Drawing on data from a 2024 national survey of 400 Black 2SLGBTQI+ individuals, this
report focuses specifically on the 91 respondents who self-identified as living with a
disability. Through disaggregated analysis, we examine their experiences with housing,
employment, education, community inclusion, and discrimination. The findings reveal a
consistent and troubling pattern of ableism intersecting with anti-Black racism and
queerphobia/transphobia, what this report refers to as a triple burden of oppression.
By centering Disabled Black 2SLGBTQI+ voices, this report underscores the urgent need
for intersectional approaches to policy, service delivery, and community support. It also
illustrates the importance of collecting and disaggregating data that reflects the full
diversity of our communities. The goal is not only to name systemic harm, but to help
guide actions that build a more equitable future.
